No one who actually plays would enforce a rule like that without a role playing justification. The one mag restriction is patently absurd, considering that restriction encompasses anything from 6 darts to 35. I'd guess OP is playing in a group that is primarily made up of kids, run by parents. Shockingly it's possible for this hobby to encompass a wide variety of different game types and concepts. Toruk just gets butt hurt when people want to play a game that isn't his style of piles of mags ultra stock dick wavery.

When I ran a Wild West LARP that used Nerf blasters we obviously didn't allow things like Stryfes and Rapidstrikes, and games like Dystopia Rising limit magazines, full auto and max amount of ammo because it's set in the post apocalypse where those things are supposed to be very rare (or in many Post-Apoc LARPs because things like ammo and weapons are tied to crafting abilities and player class). B) Because it's a LARP or narrative focused game and ammo/magazines/etc doesn't fit whatever the theme of the game is. Stock only with limited mags is usually for one of two reasons: A) Keep the playing field even so that a kid can buy a cheap blaster at Target and not be out classed by some adult man with a $200 superstock primary. Probably for a group that has a lot of younger players.
